Raymond A. Hare Papers

1950-1984

The Raymond A. Hare Papers document Hare's interest in Islamic architecture with articles, photographs, detailed maps of sites and a collection of 12 audio cassettes on the history of architecture. While serving as ambassador to Egypt and Turkey, Hare kept detailed scrapbooks on significant members of political, social and cultural circles as well as on his own career as ambassador. The scrapbooks contain extensive newspaper clippings and black and white photographs organized chronologically. Georgetown also holds Raymond A. Hare's Oral History Project interview done in the summer of 1987 by Dayton Mak for the Association for Diplomatic Studies.
